ABC of NC Receives the Autism Society of North Carolina's "Community Organization of the Year" Award
At the 2007 conference hosted by the Autism Society of North Carolina, Executive Director of ABC of NC, Selene Johnson, accepted the "2007 Community Organization of the Year" award on behalf of the students, staff, board, and families of ABC of NC. Nancy Huber, Events Manager for the Autism Society of North Carolina, wrote, "It was very heart-warming to be able to present an award to such a deserving group!"
Several parents of ABC of NC surprised the staff with a congratulatory feast following the conference.
Lynne Donovan, artist and mother of Senior Consultant, Lizzy Donovan, spent two weeks getting to know our students and staff while painting a beautiful 30-foot mural down the main hall of the school. The colorful mural includes a variety of funky flowers, wild grasses, crazy vines, and wonderfully expressive animals. The students have enjoyed identifying the quirky crew that includes a baboon, giraffe, zebra, elephant, rhinocerous, aardvark, anteater, ape, tiger, lion, monkeys, flamingos, frogs, and more!
The ABC of NC students and staff extend their sincere gratitude to Lynne and her assistant Toni for all of their time, energy, and creativity!
