Social Skills Groups

This is a low-intensity program in which students meet once per week to target their individual needs through small group instruction in a natural (i.e. play) environment. Social skills are targeted such as: sharing, negotiating, forgiving, co-creating, problem solving, taking others' perspectives, and enjoying different types of humor in a group setting. Sessions run for 10 weeks.

Buddy Club: Tigers (ages 7-10)

Tuesdays, 5:30-6:45pm

Session 1: September 1-November 10 (off 10/27/09 for Fall Carnival)

Session 2: December 1-February 23 (off 12/22/09, 12/29/09, 02/16/10)

Session 3: March 16-May 25 (off 03/30/10)

Readiness Buddy Club: Pandas (ages 5-8)

Wednesdays, 5:30-6:45pm

Session 1: September 2–November 11 (off 10/28/09)

Session 2: December 2-February 24 (off 12/23/09, 12/30/09, 02/17/10)

Session 3: March 17-May 26 (off 03/31/10)

Junior Buddy Club: Kangaroos (ages 4-6)

Thursdays, 5:30-6:45pm

Session 1: September 3-November 12 (off 10/29/09)

Session 2: December 3-February 25 (off 12/24/09, 12/31/09, 02/18/10)

Session 3: March 18-May 27 (off 04/01/10)

These programs are designed for students who:

Have a diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome or High-Functioning AutismDo not exhibit aggressive or self-injurious behaviorsPrimarily have social skills deficits, but do not have significant language impairment

Each 10-week session is $500.00 and includes:

Initial observation of student and recommendation for servicesSmall group setting (once per week)Social skills targeted in the context of play/group activitiesWritten IEP that includes 2-3 individualized social goals per studentWeekly data collection per goalProgress notes sent home once per monthParent/guardian conference once per 5 weeks
