2008/2009 School Year Scholarships Available

We are now processing applications for scholarship funds for our wide variety of educational programs including:

•Intensive 1:1 center-based programs

•Preschool inclusion center-based group instruction

•Advanced readiness center-based group instruction

•“Buddy Club” (center-based social skills groups)

•Individualized parent education services

•Parent classes

We will distribute these scholarships beginning in the fall of 2008 for the 2008/2009 school year.

If you wish to be considered as a recipient, you must complete a scholarship application and an application for admission (unless your child is already an enrolled student in ABC of NC programs). In addition to the scholarship application, you must provide a 2007 tax return for every member of your household who filed, including children, showing income and expenses reported to the Internal Revenue Service. If you do not have a tax return, please attach document(s) showing annual income for 2007, such as a social security statement(s), unemployment wage summary(ies), W-2(s), etc. for every member of your household. Also attach copies of all applicable information about your child including evaluations, diagnoses and reviews. Please be assured that all information from the applications will be kept completely confidential within the committee except for disclosure to outside agencies to confirm accuracy. Do not include a photo of your child.

Please return the complete information package either by mail, postmarked by the deadline, or in person to the ABC of NC Child Development Center by June 4th, 2008 at 5 p.m.  The center is located at 3904 Old Vineyard Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27104. We will not consider any late applications or incomplete applications.

Our Scholarship Committee will review the applications and will notify all recipients of their results by the end of June, 2008. We will assess each child and their families individually and will consider funding for a variety of programs. Please note that ABC of NC does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, creed, sex, age or national origin. The committee will distribute funds for a determined period, giving time for families to apply for and obtain alternate funding. We reserve the right to review recipients at any time as their level of commitment and circumstances change and to modify or discontinue scholarship funding as deemed appropriate by the committee. If you are a current client, we cannot retroactively apply scholarship funds to your programs.

Any family with a child diagnosed with or determined at-risk for autism spectrum disorder may apply for the ABC of NC scholarship fund. Please note that we may not be able to serve children with additional diagnoses. Currently enrolled students of any age may apply, but new students must be under the age of 11 in order to be eligible for services.

ABC of NC is a not-for-profit organization and our mission is to provide quality educational services to as many children with autism as possible. We wish that there were enough funds for all the families who need them. Please be assured that we are working towards opening up channels of public funds that will make that goal possible.

“Help Me at Home: Positive Techniques for Parents of Children with Autism”
