The ABC of NC Child Development Center (ABC of NC) provides educational services for children meeting the DSM-IV 299.00 or DSM-IV 299.80 criteria for autism spectrum disorder; pervasive developmental disorder, not otherwise specified; or Asperger’s Syndrome or to students who are at risk for developing such disorders.
Children are admitted upon diagnosis or through referrals from gatekeeper agencies. New students may be as young as 18 months old, but no older than 10 years old. Students who were enrolled in either the center-based program or parent education programs on or before their 11th birthday, may attend ABC of NC until the student’s 21st birthday, but ABC of NC reserves the right to facilitate the transition to a more appropriate program, if staff deem that ABC of NC cannot provide the appropriate services.
Clients are admitted to the ABC of NC Center and are provided with services without distinction due to race, color, national origin, handicapping condition or age, except where permitted by law.
